Figuring out if Scanlily is right for you? Scanlily is easy to use, and it has a lot of features. Here’s a list of questions customers frequently have asked us about the app.
Q: I’m a subscriber and I’m building my inventory in the app. How do I share a link to my inventory so people can view/search it but not edit?
A: Any user can currently share items with others by downloading them to a spreadsheet. You can see that if you click on the Home icon from the app's main menu and then send yourself the spreadsheet. You can also login to the website and do this via the Spreadsheet feature. Of course, you would have to resend each time.
A Business level user has the ability to create multiple users and give them different access rights. You can also set view capability for people who don't have accounts (here's an informal video we created for a customer). Business users will also have a wordpress plugin capability for sharing it on their own website.
Q: Can I get labels of a different size than what is sold on Amazon/this website?
A: Yes! We can prepare QR labels set to any Avery label template, or to print on 4x6 labels. Contact us to request a size!
Q: We are a moving company and I wanted to see if there is a way for us to use your solution to improve our process to get moving inventory lists from our customers.
A: Scanlily makes moving inventory lists a simple process! We have professional organizers, professional movers and move managers using Scanlily for this purpose.
Q: I accidentally scanned the wrong QR code. How do I change it?
A: You can fix that by going to the ID field and clicking on the code. Then a red X will appear and you can delete it and/or type in the correct code (see image below).

Q: I am moving. Can my friends use my account on their phone to help me label and organize my stuff?
A: Yes! In the free version, your friends can login to your free account with the username and password you create to help you organize and label your boxes. If you upgrade to business level, you can log in to the user website and then invite others to join your account. The system will indicate who updated what items. You can also set up access levels so that other users can view items without update ability.
Q: How can I use Scanlily’s QR inventory stickers to help preserve family memories?
A: You can place a Scanlily QR sticker on the back or underside of the item, then attach documents of authenticity or audio recordings of a relative describing the history of the item. Then anyone can scan the QR code to find out more. You can choose to make the item public in the Scanlily app, and then future users can scan to access the item’s information without downloading the app. You can read more about that in this blog.
Q: I have a lot of equipment to manage for my business. How do I check items out to different colleagues?
A: Scanlily's booking feature is available to Business subscribers. First, in Subscriber Settings, choose the mode: checkouts, reservations or reservations with pickups. Checkouts are like checking a book out from the library and back in again. Your colleagues can scan a QR with the app to bring up an item (or look it up in the app), and if the item isn't currently checked out, can choose checkout. They and you can get email notifications as it is checked out, as it is coming due, when it has been returned. etc. The app shows all current checkouts and the user website also shows them on a calendar. Alternatively, a user can check out without the app! If you have granted the permission, the user just scans the app with their phone's camera, which opens a web page and they can check out from there. Reservations and Reservations with Pickups work similarly except that users can reserve items on a calendar. You can read more here.
Q: Is Scanlily offered in my language? How do I change languages?
A: Yes! We have 12 languages available: English, Czech, Danish, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Hungarian, Portuguese, Hindi, Hebrew and Arabic. You can change the language by going to Settings within the app, then selecting User Profile, then Language.
Q: Can I set my QR codes to be available even without an app?
A: Yes! In the Scanlily app you can check the box to make this item public. As a simpler app, Shelflily does not have this option; however, since the apps have interchangeable information you can simply log into Scanlily with your Shelflily credentials and check the box in that app.
